SafeZone plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety of our аIJʹÙÍø community. It aims to provide our staff and students with the following advantages:

  • Access to personalized emergency assistance without delay. (Emergency Alert, First Aid or Non-urgent matters).
  • A direct line to the аIJʹÙÍø Security Operations Centre which can deploy appropriate emergency resources.Ìý
  • Prompt notifications regarding safety issues in their vicinity.
  • In the event of an emergency, the app allows you to quickly share your location and details with the University Security team who will be able to get the right assistance to you.

    Staff, students or members of the аIJʹÙÍø community can use the

    Referrals made via the portal are received by the Gendered Violence Response Team (GVRT) at аIJʹÙÍø Psychology and Wellness. The GVRT is a team of specialist mental health clinicians within Psychology and Wellness who are trained to support victims/survivors of gendered violence, including a Specialist Gendered Violence Counsellor. The GVRT works closely with internal and external support services and can assist with connecting people to various support services, in a variety of different areas.Ìý

    A report submitted this form is not considered a formal complaint unless you request for it to be reviewed by the Conduct and Integrity Office or Employee Relations. The Gendered Violence Response Team can talk you through your options.

    If your experience includes sexual assault, the GVRT also work alongside The Survivor Hub to provide monthly meetups for people who have experienced sexual violence at аIJʹÙÍø.

    • ÌýThe primary purpose of a SARO is to make a record of what occurred, in addition to allowing the NSW Police Fore to gather information on sexual offences and offending.
      Making a report here will not initiate a formal investigation or link you with support but will provide various options.

      The Domestic Violence Line is a 24-hour NSW statewide telephone crisis counselling and referral service for women, including trans women. Counsellors on the Domestic Violence Line can help you:

      - Obtain an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO).
      - Develop a safety plan for you and your children.

While there is increased conversation about gendered violence, many of us don’t know how it occurs, what to do if it does, and how we can prevent it. Here are answers to some common questions.

Affected by gendered violence?

Behaviour that amounts to sexual assault or sexual harassment is not accepted at аIJʹÙÍø. If you are a student or staff who has been affected by gendered violence, here is information about the support and reporting options available inside and outside of аIJʹÙÍø.

Report gendered violence

You can report an incident of sexual assault or harassment, whether you've been directly affected, are a witness to an incident or you're a support person.
