Artist statement

Gather around a dinner table marked by the remnants of a shared meal — smudges, spills, and stains that speak to the beauty of imperfect, lived-in moments. Inspired by the joyful chaos of my early twenties, the looseness of form and carefree marks evoke laughter, spilled drinks, and the intimacy of figuring life out together. These traces celebrate not polished presentation but the tangible richness of connection and authenticity.

At the same time, the work quietly critiques the modern pressure to maintain a curated, spotless life — a table always set but never truly used. In contrast, this visual feast embraces the mess, offering a space to savour the soul-nourishing imperfections of real human experience.

Like the warmth of lingering conversation after a meal, the work suggests that true nourishment lies not in perfection but in the messy, meaningful moments we share with others.
