Artist statement

The artwork portrays the many facets of female sexuality. From the intimacy to the senseless joy and sticky wetness of it all, the artist reveals what is typically shunned and hidden in Burmese culture.

By painting the women as lively participants with yearning bodies and taboo desires, Iris challenges the societal expectations of the polite and demure female. She challenges the notion of the European Nude that so often paints women as passive objects of sexual desire.
