Artist statement

Pre and post hangover is the chaotic reflection of Ava鈥檚 perspective on communal engagement and the joy of celebration, expressed through material pleasures.

These works signify a timeline of a typical hectic Sydney weekend, through the collection of commonly consumed 鈥減arty鈥 products and the remnants of stereotypical hangover cures such as the grim, greasy-filled cravings often felt post-late night.

These paintings represent the lingering traces of celebrations tied around food, drink, and collective pleasures by depicting them in a playful yet less attractive and appealing way.
